The Chesapeake Civic Chorus

2018 Fundraiser Concept On November 18, 2018, the Crestwood High School Alumni Association, Inc. was blessed by the Chesapeake Civic Chorus with a concert to assist us with our community service projects and our scholarship fund. The concert was held at First Baptist Church South Hill, which is pastored by Rev. Michael Toliver. He is a 1971 graduate of Crestwood High. The Civic Chorus was originally founded by Mr. David Sanford, the renowned music teacher at Norfolk County and Crestwood High Schools.

It was re-established in March 1986 by Mrs. Geraldine Boone, an accomplished music educator, choral director, vocalist, and pianist. Mrs. Boone, a 1954 graduate of Norfolk County High School, had her beginning in the school's chorus under the direction of Mr. Sanford. The Chesapeake Civic Chorus works to improve and develop a passion for choral music in the City of Chesapeake. The Chorus recognizes the importance of music education for children, and strives to partner with the City of Chesapeake to expose children to choral music. Their masterful performances help to inspire community appreciation of choral music. The concert included an appearance by Ms. Shekinaj Joy Ravizee. She was a graduate of Western Branch High School, Chesapeake. She first developed her love for classical music while attending Delaware University, and has appeared in a variety of concerts in the United States and London, England. The concert was an overwhelming success, and had attendees asking when we would have our next concert.
